My story begins in 2016 when I was living my life to the fullest, with no regrets about what I ate or drank on a daily basis. However, during my annual check-up with my doctor, I received some shocking news. After several routine tests, my doctor informed me that I was a borderline diabetic and advised me to change my eating habits. We went over a list of items that I consumed regularly, and I realized I needed to adjust my coffee intake, which was a significant contributor to my health issues.
I am a coffee lover and would often indulge in a Starbucks upside-down caramel macchiato with six pumps of vanilla and no foam - whether it was hot or iced. I would even add seasonal marshmallow whipped cream to satisfy my cravings, which my doctor and I both agreed was not the healthiest option. I knew I had to make a lifestyle change and find a natural, healthier solution that would work for my busy schedule.
I decided to create a unique way to drink coffee that would be on-the-go, taste like my Starbucks drink without adding any preservatives, and fit my new lifestyle. I mixed non-dairy flavored creamer of choice, bee pollen, coffee, and honey in my cup and added a stick for stirring. This allowed me to have my new coffee option with me at all times, and I no longer had to make a run to Starbucks or settle for unhealthy options.
After months of being consistent with my unique coffee recipe, I retested with my doctor, and the results showed that I had reversed being a borderline diabetic. I'm not saying that my coffee cured me, but it was an intentional lifestyle change that helped me stay consistent with my new habits.
